Showing Your Home Off
Once your Home is on the market you need to make sure you are showing your home from its best side and highlight all its advantages:
- If possible leave the house, no one should be in the house when a showing takes place. Nothing distracts a buyer like the homeowner being present.
- Make sure that all items are picked up and neatly put away.
- Don’t leave clothes or toys laying around
- Be sure you have locked away valuable items and medication
- Do a quick clean up prior to buyers seeing the home
- Sweep the carpets and/or hardwoods
- Wipe dry the bathroom counters and put away personal items
- Turn on all the lights.
- Open the curtains and blinds
- Buyers will be opening closets, bathroom cabinets and kitchen drawers, don’t try hiding things by stuffing it away in closets.
- Air out the home and / or light a scented candle.
- Remove pets, if possible or crate them prior to showings
