- Make sure ALL utilities are on for the Home Inspection
- Change the furnace filter and make sure the furnace itself is clean.
- Make sure all light bulbs are working (inside and outside)
- Make sure all smoke detectors are in working orders.
- Clean Gutters
- Make sure the insulation from AC to the home is fully intact. If not just replace the insulation pipe.
- Inspect your attic for any potential roof leaks. Trust me a home inspector will find any problems with the roof, so generally it is best to addressing these items prior
- Are all your windows working – opening and staying open
- Are all the electrical outlets working and are they covered
- Pilot light to fireplace or anything else should be lit and remain on
- Be sure the home inspector has access to all of the following:
- Hot Water Heater
- Furnace
- Electric Panel
- Sump Pump
- Water Mains
- Attic
